Join us at ImaginOn on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10:00am-4:30pm for our second annual puppetry festival! PuppetPalooza 2025 will be an all-day, non-stop, FREE, family-friendly event celebrating the joy and art of puppetry, and all ages are welcome.

Participating puppetry troops include Asheville Creative Arts, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Frontline Puppeteers, Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Ed's Dinosaurs Live, FAB Puppetry, Grey Seal Puppets, InReach's Troupe 801, Jeghetto's Entertainment, The Lurnsters, Paperhand Puppets, Shepherd Shakespeare, and VisArt Video.

Shows will be running all day. Pop in for one or stay for them all, meet our giant roving puppets, explore our balcony exhibit of past puppets from Children's Theatre of Charlotte (CTC) shows, try your hand at puppet karaoke, make a sock puppet to take home with you, and make sure you join our puppet parade at 12:00!

Every year Book Harvest honors MLK Jr. by celebrating the power of community and our big dream of books and literacy for all kids with our biggest event of the year: Dream Big! The celebration is part book drive, part volunteer event, part community partner fair, part festival, and all party and fun!

Join the People’s Procession at 6pm, starting at the State Capitol off Morgan St.

Festivities begin with the early afternoon City Plaza outdoor musical performances and the Children’s Celebration at 2pm. Performances and activities will continue throughout the evening across multiple indoor venues throughout Downtown Raleigh. The night is capped off with music on the outdoor Main Stage, the famous Raleigh Acorn Drop, and a spectacular fireworks show.

The 3rd annual 7DS Truthsgiving will take place Sunday November 17th in Pleasant Grove, NC, in the heart of the Occaneechi Saponi community.

Truthsgiving is a free, family-friendly event that draws out hundreds of folks each year. Through puppetry and storytelling, panels, creative arts and Indigenous foods, we uplift the untold historical truths of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, and amplify Indigenous resistance and visions for the future.

350PDX is hosting an evening in the workshop with Donovon Zimmerman of the renowned Paperhand Puppet Intervention. There will be a lecture on the intersection of Art and Social Justice and will include an Artbuild afterwards.

We’re headed out to Southern Pines, NC to perform for Vision 4 Moore and benefit the Sandhills Coalition for Human Care! This showcase performance features many of Paperhands’ fantastical creatures and characters. Animals of all shapes and sizes fill the stage and beyond in a beautiful flow of creativity and joy. Don't miss this exciting opportunity for the whole family to share some inspiration and wonder. We are excited to partner with Sandhills Coalition for Human Care for this event! This show was created as an “ALL AGES” performance.

Tickets for our event are Child (4-14) $12.00 (+ fees) and Adult $20.00
(+ fees). Join the fun inside at the R. E. Lee Auditorium located at Pinecrest High School located at 250 Voit Gilmore Rd, Southern Pines, NC 28387. This event will be held rain or shine - no refunds will be issued. No food or drink will be served, and no food or drink is allowed in the auditorium. SEATING is on a first come first serve basis. They often sell-out in Raleigh and the surrounding areas. Doors open at 1:30 and the show starts at 2:00.

The Triangle's favorite Independence Day celebration returns! Be cool and stay cool on banks of the river this Independence Day weekend at the Festival for the Eno with great music, crafts, food and river activities on July 4 and 6, 2024.

Join Salem Band for a special event with guests, Paperhand Puppet Intervention! If you haven’t witnessed the puppet artistry of PPI, you are in for a treat! Don’t miss this creative artistic and musical collaboration! Sound of Music, Birdland, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Teddy Bear’s Picnic, as well as music from Aladdin, Sesame Street, the Muppets - and more - round out the program. And of course, the band will play Alfred Hitchcock’s theme song, Funeral March of a Marionette.

Pre-concert music by the Salem Band Brass Quintet at 6:45 pm.

HAW RIVER FEST IS POSTPONED TO 5/11 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

The festival includes live music, a farmers market, a silent auction, a kayak raffle, and when weather permits – a river walk, river monitoring, and puppet parade!

Any donations collected will benefit Haw River Assembly.

On May 8 from 12pm-2pm, Paperhand will be joining the Mountain Valley Pipeline frontlines in Charlotte, NC to demand Bank of America #DefundMVP. Can you join us? The frontlines of this disastrous, beleaguered project need our support, and puppeteers could use your help carrying giant puppets and banners through the streets.

A short march will kick off at noon, and there will also be a theatrical environmental justice hearing on the steps of Bank of America HQ. Come get loud with us!

“FLT” is Turtle Island Preserve’s annual spring fundraiser to promote sustainable and natural living through the teaching of earth skills from a wide range of instructors.

It is a wonderful opportunity to return to nature and connect with skilled artisans and teachers who will be demonstrating primitive skills and crafts, while enjoying live mountain music, witnessing examples of historic building practices, and join in on demonstrations in food, blacksmithing, wood working, knives, survival, blade sharpening, plant foraging, and so much more.

This outdoor, rain or shine fundraiser benefits upgrading our facilities, expanding our programs and camp scholarships for our summer camps. Our family-oriented event theme is: sustainable lifestyle practices with a focus on agriculture and forest education. You will get to see, hear, taste, touch and feel things here that you just won't get to experience anywhere else!

Visitors will learn through experience with a hands-on approach to an alternative way of life. Demonstrations will be held throughout the day for all age groups. You can spend as much time as you like at a particular station, or spend the day exploring the many options. The event is hosted entirely outdoors on our beautiful wooded campus.
